About the Temple:

Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located in the Mylapore neighborhood of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Karpagambal. The temple is one of the most famous landmarks of Chennai and is considered to be one of the oldest temples in the city.

History:

The temple was originally built around the 7th century by the Pallavas. It was later expanded and renovated by the Cholas and the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple has undergone several renovations and additions over the years and was finally rebuilt in its present form in the 16th century by the Vijayanagara kings.
